About the Position
Nuveen is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Media Relations to join a team of professionals responsible for protecting and growing the brand of a leading global asset manager. The successful candidate will partner closely with senior executives and marketing leaders to create strategic multi-year communications programs aligned with the firm’s key areas of growth with a focus on the firm’s Institutional business and related priorities. The individual will also work on managing corporate and reputational issues impacting the firm.
The individual will be comfortable working in a dynamic, matrixed and client-centric organization and have a proven track record of understanding internal and external stakeholders. The Vice President of Media Relations must have strong working relationships with business, financial and trade media across channels (print, broadcast and social media).

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Identify media opportunities for assets, funds, transactions, thought leadership and executives in business/financial, national and trade publications
Provide counsel to internal partners on effective PR strategies to support business goals
Arrange and facilitate media interviews, including preparation of briefing material/message points
Identify transactions and topics that can be promoted via press releases, pitches or media exclusives
Maintain media lists and sustain ongoing relationships with key journalists and publications
Identify, track and give updates on editorial calendar opportunities; proactively identify other coverage opportunities
Produce written materials, including press releases, bylined articles, talking points and presentations
Conduct comprehensive reporting/tracking/analysis of PR activity/coverage
7+ years of agency or inhouse public relations experience .
Strong oral and written communications skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
Comfort working in a fluid and fast-paced environment
Established relationships with reporters covering the asset management industry and investment topics
Familiarity with communications platforms and services, such as Factiva, Cision, Gorkana, BusinessWire, PR Newswire
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field
Strong Microsoft office skills, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
