POSITION SUMMARY:

TIAA’s 2021 Summer Internship Program is an enriching opportunity for college students who want to supplement their academic preparation with a challenging work experience as they launch their professional careers. Successful completion of the internship can lead to a full-time career opportunity at TIAA, upon graduation.

Summer Interns will work on an exciting mix of strategically-aligned challenging assignments and projects that help drive the achievement of the organization's strategy and mission. Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer interns to ensure development and learning. Candidates can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry, as well as have opportunities to explore various technology tools, techniques, and disciplines. Successful summer interns will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time position in the highly competitive entry-level Technical Associate Program within Client Services & Technology (CS&T)

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

As part of the CS&T Technical Summer Internship Program, participants will have the opportunity to experience:

  • Ten weeks doing meaningful and strategic work as part of the CS&TOrganization

  • Unique networking opportunities with both senior leaders from CS&Tand from across TIAA

  • Ongoing personal and professional development opportunities

  • Opportunities to interact with interns from across TIAA as well ascurrent members of the full-time entry level CS&T Technical Associate Program

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

You will have the opportunity to work within exciting new technology areas including: Mobile development (Android & iOS), Python, Java & .NET development, Cloud computing, Big Data, Tableau, Oracle, Hadoop, AngularJS, Python, Automation, Robotics and many more!

The CS&T Technical Summer Internship Program offers you the opportunity to join one of two distinct tracks in order to build a skill set that will transform your technical abilities into a fungible skill set vital to a successful career in financial services technology.

1. Analyst (Info Security,Data, Systems, Quality, Business, Business Management).

Interns in this area leverage and further develop their skills in analysis and reporting, working alongside colleagues and Senior Leadership to further TIAA's understanding of structure, policies and to achieve its goals. You will directly contribute to solutions which support sound decision-making. The recommendations you provide will drive achievement of TIAA's technology goals. Specific responsibilities may include monitoring & implementation of dedicated measures in Info Security, requirements gathering & documentation, financial oversight & control, portfolio management, business performance measurement, process management, and data analysis from various sources.

2. Infrastructure &Software Engineering (Mobile, Web, Data, Infrastructure, Info Security,Operations, Cloud, Robotics)

Interns in this area provide operations support for capture & distribution, processing, quality processes and problem resolution. Your focus would be on ensuring data integrity in systems and adherence to internal and external standards and quality checks. Your skills would further develop as you focus your talents in providing critical support in hardware, software, data or infrastructure components within a specific domain.

Interns in this area also design, build and test various software technologies and applications programs which align with TIAA needs. You would work as part of a project team, communicating progress, technical issue reporting, resolution and deployment to production of completed code.

QUALIFICATIONS:

RequiredSkills:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Science, and any other STEM related degree

  • Graduating between December 2021 and June 2023

DesiredSkills:

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or better

  • If interested in the Analyst track:

  • Knowledge of SQL, Tableau, Advanced Excel,

  • Familiar with basic concepts in statistics

  • If interested in the Infrastructure & SoftwareEngineering track:

  • Knowledge of in Java, Angular, Python, IOS

  • Familiar with basic infrastructure concepts

  • Extracurricular program participation inmajor-related areas

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (2+years academic or work experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and deliver oncommitments

  • Desire to continuously learn

  • Leadership skills and a commitment to shared success

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (2+years academic or work experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook)
