TIAA Account Services - Fiduciary Account Specialist in ST. LOUIS, Missouri
As a part of TIAA’s Financial Solutions business, TIAA Bank, a division of TIAA, FSB, provides full-service, nationwide banking and lending services to consumer, commercial and institutional clients through a variety of channels, including online, its Florida-based financial centers and at other business offices throughout the country.
This position plays a critical role in the onboarding process for fiduciary trust accounts in which TIAA Trust is named as Trustee, Successor Trustee, Co-Trustee or Successor Co-Trustee in the client’s Trust Document, Last Will and Testament, or by Court appointment. They will work in a team environment partnering with the Integrated Solutions Directors (ISD), Wealth Management Advisors (WMAs), Trust Administrators, and Wealth Planning Specialist (WPS) to ensure a good experience for new clients to TIAA Trust. They will be responsible for understanding the sophisticated estate planning techniques the high net worth clients are implementing, the legal review of the document, review of the assets held in the trust, and presenting the relationship to the Account Acceptance Committee for acceptance or declination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Review and analyze Trust Documents, Last Will and Testaments, Court Appointments, Power of Attorney, and Guardianships (“Legal Documents”)
Research State Law and States that adopted the Uniform Trust Code (UTC) for their impact on administration issues under the Trust Documents
Stay current on existing and changing regulations and legislative rulings governing estate and tax planning strategies
Provide clear and pointed written review of the Legal Documents describing any gaps and identifying any risks to allow TIAA Management to make decisions on the acceptance or declination of the Trustee or Co-Trustee appointment within tolerances expressed in our policies and procedures
Collaborate with legal counsel and present information regarding property, legal issues, and relevant family circumstances to committee so that a well-informed recommendation may be made to accept or decline appointments to serve as Trustee, Successor Trustee, Co-Trustee, or Successor Co-Trustee
Review of unique and hard to value assets, real estate, and personal property, and presentation of appropriate risk factors to Special Trust Assets Committee for acceptance or declination
Collaborate with ISD, WMAs, and estate planning attorneys to coordinate an action plan to obtain missing documentation or family trees data
Coordinate with Trust Administration after acceptance to achieve a smooth transition and quality onboarding client experience
Oversight of account opening and funding of the Trust after acceptance
Coordinate business retention efforts with Wealth Management Advisors including the consolidation of external and affiliated assets
Identify and surface open issues and gaps and provide ongoing assessment of risk factors and business decisions for fiduciary trust acceptance
Assist in training ISD and WMAs on Fiduciary Trust services and account acceptance and setting client and beneficiary expectations
Identify efficiencies and other opportunities to improve service quality and support continued growth of TIAA Trust fiduciary offering

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years of experience in fiduciary trust administration or estate planning for high net worth individuals
Juris Doctorate and in good standing with regulatory agencies, the bar association, and/or professional boards
