Taxable Fixed Income Research Analyst

Gathers and evaluates information relevant to a given topic; presents conclusions and alternatives in the context of business goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Building spreadsheets, writing descriptive summaries of gathered data, organizing and prioritizing research for further review by senior managers and clients.

  • Implementing, applying and testing empirically based research models for use in areas such as marketing research, sales, and other relevant disciplines as directed.

  • Responding to requests from various business partners on investigational modeling and research studies.

  • Evaluating and testing new models, recommending and implementing revisions to improve model performance.

Required Qualifications Section:

  • 3 years of experience in leveraged finance covering healthcare (sell-side or buy-side)

Responsibilities:

  • Assume primary coverage for subsectors within the healthcare industry vertical, including medical devices, services, healthcare IT and CROs within the non-investment grade universe.

  • Underwrite new issues and secondary ideas across loans, high yield and convertible bonds.

  • Actively monitor investments and taking predictive approach to managing risk exposures.

  • Generate new ideas within coverage universe, both from a long and short perspective.

  • Perform ongoing ESG analysis and monitoring for portfolio companies; engage management teams on ESG related issues.

Summary

Nuveen Investment’s Leveraged Finance team is seeking to hire an experienced healthcare analyst to cover such subsectors as medical devices, services, healthcare IT and CROs across leveraged loans, CLOs, high yield, and convertibles. The Leveraged Finance platform at Nuveen applies a collaborative and team-based approach to rigorous fundamental underwriting across the capital structure and risk spectrum, from higher quality non-investment grade to distressed situations. The team’s philosophy is to invest in liquid capital structures, both long and short, where relative value dislocations and event driven catalysts exist. Leveraged Finance manages $34 billion in AUM, and its investment strategies include hedge funds, separately managed accounts, comingled strategies and sub-advisory mandates for both retail and institutional clients, including Nuveen’s parent company, TIAA-CREF.
