IT Quality Assurance Analyst II

Supports the development and continuous improvement of the quality management system.

Key Responsibilities and DutiesEssential Functions

  • Generating reports for distribution to various users in the organization, customers, or suppliers.

  • Participating in supplier quality improvement initiatives; working with suppliers to develop and improve incoming quality levels.

  • Conducting quality analysis, identifying systemic issues, facilitating root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Providing conclusions and recommendations for issues and/or continuous improvement projects.

  • Business Process Improvement: Suggests ways to reduce variation and/or waste in processes. Participates in requirements analysis for process changes. Uses a specific methodology for conflict resolution. Under guidance, appropriately confronts others to get issues out in the open. Facilitates reconciliation rather than divisiveness among individuals.

  • Problem Solving: Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information. Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution. Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

  • Effective Communications: Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient. Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work. Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups. Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness. Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Productively balances speed and accuracy. Employs techniques for motivating personnel to meet or exceed accuracy goals. Demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards. Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices. Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy. Implements a variety of cross-checking approaches and mechanisms.

  • Analytical Thinking: Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions. Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance. Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand. Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns. Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.

  • Manufacturing Safety: Inspects manufacturing working environment to find safety violations within a specific area. Determines appropriate action to take when unsafe conditions are encountered. Utilizes personal protective equipment required or recommended for manufacturing staff. Conducts daily maintenance and keeps tracking logs on safety equipment. Responds to first aid and accident situations following standard procedures.

  • Lean Manufacturing: Explains benchmarks and measures of effectiveness of lean. Finds solution for key technical and people problems associated with transformation to lean. Explains issues and considerations of implementing lean in own function or area. Discusses considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring. Selects and utilizes tools, techniques and measurements associated with a lean assessment.

  • Gemba Kaizen/Continuous Improvement: Helps innovate ideas to meet requirements and increase productivity. Maintains and continuously improves operations standards. Works to standardize operations and activities. Measures standardized operations; finds cycle times and amounts of in-process inventory. Gauges measurements against requirements.

  • Cause and Effect Diagram (Ishikawa or Fishbone): Participates in developing an operational definition of 'cause' and 'effect' to ensure that each is clearly understood. Follows established procedures to prioritize verifiable causes related to manufacturing manpower, methods, materials and machinery. Examines fishbone to avoid the overlapping of causes. Analyzes each category (Manpower, methods, measurement, machinery, materials, mother nature) to determine the probability of a cause. Uses Mini-tabs to create cause and effect diagrams, under guidance.

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Extrapolates lessons to be learned to promote the achievement of better consequences. Pinpoints behaviors, actions, inaction, or conditions that need to be changed. Locates factors that resulted in harmful outcomes of one or more past events. Utilizes RCA techniques, such as Flowchart, Fish-bone Diagram, etc., to investigate basic problems, determine the causes, and find resolutions. Practices RCA as an iterative process.

  • Manufacturing Equipment: Uses standard diagnostic tools and techniques; resolves common problems. Participates in setting up new machines and testing according to manufacturer's specifications. Conducts routine inspections; checks machine performance and equipment safeguards; reports standards violations. Performs routine maintenance: cleaning, replacing defective or worn parts. Performs basic care and safety considerations for a specific type of manufacturing equipment.

  • Production Systems Operation: Collates tooling requirements and verifies computer and systems set-up for a specific run. Documents routine workflow, resource requirements, dependencies and criticalities. Documents common equipment and systems problems and provides associated resolutions. Supports and follows relevant practices and procedures for managing production flow. Operates a production line and associated systems involved in the production of deliverables.
