Taxable Fixed Income Sr Research Associate

Gathers and evaluates information relevant to a given topic; presents conclusions and alternatives in the context of business goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Building spreadsheets, writing descriptive summaries of gathered data, organizing and prioritizing research for further review by senior managers and clients.

  • Implementing, applying and testing empirically based research models for use in areas such as marketing research, sales, and other relevant disciplines as directed.

  • Responding to requests from various business partners on investigational modeling and research studies.

  • Evaluating and testing new models, recommending and implementing revisions to improve model performance.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Evaluate and monitor the risk characteristics of portfolios of MBS and CMO securities including collateral analysis and understanding of deal structure.

  • Perform extensive prepayment and default analysis on existing positions as well as underwrite new issue deals.

  • Work with senior analysts to develop additional quantitative and analytical tools to enhance security selection and portfolio management across various mandates (Total Rate of Return, Asset/Liability Management, Index Funds)

  • Perform active surveillance of portfolio holdings, design and perform simulation analysis using cash flow models to identify trends and make recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of related MBS research or trading experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related MBS research or trading experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Advanced Excel skills. Deep knowledge of Bloomberg, Intex, Yieldbook, CPR&CDR or similar models and databases.

  • High attention to detail in a collaborative environment

  • Concentration in Finance, Economics or Quantitative background

  • Experience with scripting and/or programming languages such as VBA, SQL, Python, C++ MBA or CFA


Potential Salary: $132,600.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
