TIAA Director, Business Management in New York, New York
The Business Management Manager manages a team of experienced professionals that is responsible for providing strategic support for the assigned business area. As a manager, this job oversees the execution of strategic business management consulting and is the central point of contact for the leaders in the execution of business management tasks. This job is responsible for policy and strategy implementation that impact the achievement of strategic business management consulting operational results.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Manages team in assigned area and makes decisions on tactical issues that impact the business.
Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures in support of the business area strategy.
Drives process improvements in assigned business area.
Analyzes and reports to senior management on area data (financial, headcount, etc.) and performance metrics.
Oversees business management projects by monitoring and tracking risks, issues and action items.
Drives and oversees meeting planning in support of business projects and objectives.
Influences the development of new strategic initiatives through tracking budgets and milestones.
Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products and engagement, motivation, and development of team.

Five years of experience in financial services, management consulting, or similar corporate operating environment/industry.
Five years of experience in budget management – tracking expenses and actuals to plan, identifying risks to meeting plan and opportunities for savings, understanding financial health of group.
Five years of experience leading a small team, including development of staff and management of cross-functional processes and initiatives.
Five years of experience working with MS Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
Excellent communication skills – in both written and verbal form – with ability to tailor communication style to audience.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Project management and/or experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives. Ability to “connect the dots” to drive outcomes.
Strong working knowledge of various aspects of financial services, e.g. finance, risk, compliance, technology and human resources.
A self-starter with the flexibility to work independently, along with interpersonal skills to work collaboratively, or as a mentor/leader.
Methodical thinker able to resolve complex issues or analyze business management operations with an eye for process improvement.
Professionalism at all times showcasing ability to represent the team with various levels of leadership internal and external to the organization.
Experience managing small teams and developing talent.
Potential Salary: $180,000.00 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
