About the Position
Nuveen Equities and Fixed Income (NEFI) is seeking to hire an Associate Portfolio Manager to support the Firm’s existing portfolio mandates and aide in new business development initiatives within Nuveen’s Emerging Markets and International fixed income portfolio management team. The successful candidate will be an experienced, energetic and contributing member of a highly driven group of professionals focused on investing in EM/International fixed income markets in the credit, rates and FX.
Nuveen’s Emerging Market and International Fixed Income team manages over $14 billion in assets spanning EM sovereigns, EM quasi-sovereigns, EM corporates, local markets and international developed markets. The team manages investments for Nuveen’s public fixed income portfolios, including: TIAA’s General Account, open-end funds, closed-end funds and third party separately managed accounts. They manage sector-specific strategies as well as EM and international sub-segments of the Firm’s multi-sector fixed income portfolios. The portfolio management team’s mandates span the full spectrum of EM debt including hard currency, local currency, corporate and high yield strategies.
Support and perform active surveillance ofportfolio holdings, cash, analytics, market risk and performance attribution.
Develop quantitative models and provide analysisto support lead and sector PMs in top down asset allocation, risk budgetimplementation, alpha/beta strategies, and cross sector relative value.
Participate in investment sector team meetingsand topics for discussion; charged with ensuring portfolio guideline andconstruction consistency across all mandates under coverage.
Liaise with internal risk management team onmodeling input assumptions and financial projections.
Support portfolio managers and the research analystsin the development, validation and testing of new investment ideas/concepts.
Coordinate with Research, Trading, Client PortfolioManagement (CPM), Product, Marketing, Compliance and Reporting teams onexisting mandates and new business initiatives.
Collaborate on the development of thoughtleadership pieces to enhance the team’s external marketing efforts.
Work closely with CPM/Product to deliver robustmarket data and peer competitive analysis
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in anasset management with some of that time spent in a total rate of returnenvironment, with familiarity working across various business lines.
Broad-basedknowledge of emerging markets/international fixed income, risk analytics, andperformance attribution.
MBA,CFA designation, or advanced degree preferred.
Proactive self-starter with the ability to work well under pressure,prioritize and multitask.
Ability to collaboratively share ideas andinsights with portfolio managers, traders, and fellow analysts.
Strong quantitative, analytical, criticalthinking, along with communication and presentation skills
Detailed knowledge and ability with Excel andPowerPoint
Working knowledge of Barclays POINT, Bloomberg,Factset
Foreign language skills preferred
