Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define, negotiate, structure and implement investment mandates for internal and external clients

  • Build Nuveen Real Estate brand in the lending market in the active jurisdictions

  • Market the debt platform and raise additional capital by communicating characteristics of debt investment to potential investors in collaboration with members of the International Advisory Services group or Placement Agents

  • Source and originate suitable lending transactions from existing and newly acquired market contacts

  • Structure, negotiate and execute debt transactions to deliver key risk/reward objectives

  • Monitor investment performance and, if needed, work underperforming positions out

  • Provide best-in-class reporting to investors on a timely and accurate basis

  • Represent Nuveen Real Estate at industry associations, conferences and functions

  • Maintain positive relations with the press and position the Nuveen Real Estate agenda appropriately

  • Actively shape and comply with governance, committee and risk management processes

Technical Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Commercial Real Estate Debt sourcing, origination and underwriting skills

  • Complete understanding and application of real estate due diligence and legal documentation requirements across European jurisdictions

  • Commercial acumen, excellent quantitative analysis and financial modelling skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required.

  • Fund management, portfolio management and risk management

  • Relevant level 4 FCA recognised qualification essential e.g. IMC, CFA level 1 or CIIA

  • Strong presentation and communication skills (e.g. investor and borrower meetings)

  • Public speaking to large audiences to deliver key notes, presentations, panel discussions

  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively and independently, yet also work in a team environment

  • Project management and organisational skills

  • Language skills in key European markets: English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch would be viewed favourably

Competencies Required

  • Business acumen to interact with clients regarding a wide range of real estate financing products in order to originate appropriate transactions

  • Networking and communication – investors, borrowers, service providers, and internally

  • Interact successfully with all stakeholders involved in developing a profitable business platform in Europe

  • Business development capabilities

  • Professional maturity, self-confidence and outstanding judgement skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Act in line with Nuveen Real Estate’s Company Values and integrity to act in the best long-term interest of our client and the company
