TIAA Director of Model Risk Management in JACKSONVILLE, Florida

As a part of TIAA’s Retail & Institutional Financial Services business, TIAA Bank, a division of TIAA, FSB, provides full-service, nationwide banking and lending services to consumer, commercial and institutional clients through a variety of channels, including online, its Florida-based financial centers and at other business offices throughout the country.

Primary Characteristics

The Director of Model Risk Management will design and maintain a Model Risk Program that includes oversight of all aspects of model risk, including model governance, model inventory, model validation and adherence to the Model Risk Policy.

Essential Functions

  • Design the Model Risk Program that includes a framework that meets all criteria of OCC 2011-12 and FRB SR 11-7 guidance.

  • Monitor performance thresholds established by the model owners.

  • Maintain a comprehensive, centralized and standardized model documentation, model inventory, model performance KRIs, etc.

  • Facilitate resolution and/or escalation of issues within the specified timeframes.

  • Manage all validation findings to ensure resolution in a timely manner.

  • Create analytics and reporting for the appropriate levels, including senior and executive management and risk committees.

  • Provide oversight of the execution of the model governance program.

  • Provide oversight of the model validation, including adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Interact with risk committees, internal audit and regulators to provide appropriate reporting.

  • Interface with all line of business executives, business partners, model owners, model developers and model users.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

  • Knowledge of Finance and/or Capital Markets

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently

  • Must possess excellent time management skills

  • Must have excellent communication skills and a professional ability to work with all levels of management

Training and Experience

  • Graduate level degree in a quantitative subject, such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering required

  • At least 5 years of experience in model risk management and/or modeling techniques

  • Experience in an OCC regulated bank environment

  • Thorough knowledge of the OCC and FRB model risk requirementsManagement experience required
