TIAA Commercial Construction Loan Closing and Servicing Manager in Jacksonville, Florida

Commercial Bank Operations Manager

The Commercial Bank Operations Manager oversees a team of loan processing clerks and professionals. This job manages all facets of loan processing including origination, processing, and closing. While setting goals and objectives for Commercial team members for the achievement of operational results, this job identifies and resolves issues related to the processing and management of loan applications and related documentation and ensures compliance with bank and state policies, laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the middle and back office of consumer and commercial banking to ensure efficiency and compliance with internal and external policies.

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and process improvement initiatives that are necessary to improve the operational efficiency of all commercial businesses.

  • Defines/enhances workflow improvements, including establishing quality assurance standards, expediting problem resolution, and maintaining production throughput.

  • Works closely with other departments, such as branch banking to identify the business opportunities and improvements of bank commercial operation.

  • Reviews commercial operation documentation and materials regularly to ensure compliance with banking policies and regulations.

  • Ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory procedures (e.g., Know Your Customer, Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud Prevention, etc.) by implementing and monitoring operational processes.

This position is responsible for managing the closing and ongoing administration of Commercial Construction loans, Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) loans, and affiliate Construction Escrow Accounts (“CEA”); providing loan modification support for the Bank’s CRE run-off portfolio on Metavante; and assisting with CRE funding review activities and departmental projects as needed.

  • Manage the daily activities of the various CRA, CEA and Construction loan activities

  • Responsible for the review of new draft Construction Escrow Agreements and provide comments to internal legal for necessary changes/edits

  • Work with Business Banking Relationship Manager pre-closing and post-closing for Construction Escrow Agent related items (fee invoices, authorized signer signature cards, Escrow account or related party questions)

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving CEA disbursement wires for processing

  • Responsible for CEA reporting requirements to management

  • Coach team for high performance to provide an exceptional customer experience, and conduct employee evaluations, establish team goals, make salary recommendations and develop staff

  • Create department procedures and guidelines and coordinate changes and staff training in a to legal, bank policy, and regulatory requirements

  • Develop process controls and key performance indicators and manage exceptions to ensure compliance with relevant procedures and regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of commercial real estate loan closing and/or servicing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business-related discipline or equivalent work experience preferred

  • Supervisory/leadership experience preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of commercial loan servicing processes

  • Knowledge of commercial loan legal and regulatory compliance

  • Knowledge of commercial construction loan documents, procedures, and administration a plus

  • Expert customer relationship, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving resolution skills necessary

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and general loan accounting skills

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Potential Salary: $136,500.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
