POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Analyst on the Data Governance Office (DGO) team functions as the change agents across Nuveen with the focus on promoting solid data governance, quality and metadata management practices. The team leads projects that consolidate a variety of static, market and internal data domains of the firm such as client, account, product, security master into a centralized information delivery platform. As a senior member of the DGO team, the Master Analyst is expected to drive the evolution and adoption of the data governance and stewardship processes, roles and responsibilities across the firm, while promoting the adoption of data quality and metadata management tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAND DUTIES:

Data Governance

  • Promote the adoption of theData Governance (DG) framework across Nuveen

  • Help establish and facilitatedata governance working groups

  • Deliver training,presentations, and talking points to describe status and the value of DGefforts

  • Drive the buildout of thebusiness glossaries and data dictionaries

  • Collaborate with businesssubject matter experts and data stewards to define data standards andbusiness rules

  • Leads members of the workinggroups in issue analysis sessions

  • Ensure every stakeholder groupis represented in relevant discussions

  • Monitors status of alldata-related issues being addressed by working groups

  • Develop and monitor DG metrics

IT and Business Projects

  • Manage master data relatedprojects on behalf of the Data Governance team

  • Promote the strategic DataGovernance vision through project-level involvement

  • Leverage the acquired knowledgeof investment management data domains and concepts in working with thebusiness and IT teams to develop a thorough understanding of the businessneeds and to define data and process requirements

  • Ensure project data alignmentwith the business glossary, data standards and business rules of therelevant data domains

Technical Capabilities

  • Support data analysis and testing using the ability tonavigate a relational database and perform lightweight queries to extractdata

  • Assist in the configuration and rollout of metadata anddata quality management tools

  • Configure and maintain MS SharePoint sites as an owner

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:

  • 2 or more years of experiencemanaging data projects

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience leading datagovernance initiatives

  • Experience implementing datadictionary, data governance and data stewardship practices

  • Experience in the Investmentmanagement industry

  • Solid understanding of variousInvestment Management

  • Experience in the Investmentmanagement industry

  • Solid understanding of variousInvestment Management data domains, such as trade management, portfolioaccounting, asset reference, product and account reference, client andinvestor reference, performance and analytics

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’sDegree

  • Proficiency with datagovernance and metadata management concepts and practices

  • Understanding of master datamanagement concepts

  • Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills

  • Exceptional analytical skillsand strong attention to detail, with ability to take a holistic view aswell as understand details

  • Ability to document businessprocesses, data flows, data requirements, standard operating proceduresand service level agreements

  • Focus on seeking input, drivingfor consensus and obtaining closure; excellent collaboration and teambuilding skills

  • Effective mediation skills tofacilitate a constructive approach to dealing with conflict. Ability toaddress difficult issues and guide others toward the accomplishment ofidentified, meaningful goals

  • MS Sharepoint experiencedesired

  • Ability to shift back and forthbetween facts/details and conceptual frameworks

  • Ability to effectively interactwith internal clients and outside vendors to articulate system requirements

  • Strong analytical skills
