Tax Management

Provides consulting and information-sharing tax services for the organization and ensures that all appropriate tax regulations are followed.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Monitoring appropriate federal, state and local tax regulations and obligations.

  • Preparing appropriate tax forms and instruments for filing with federal, state and local jurisdictions.

  • Working with business units to keep them informed about tax implications of their operation.

  • Helping junior staff learn the appropriate regulations, filing procedures and internal communications needs.

This position is open across the US and preferred locations are Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in tax accounting to include exposure to mutual funds, general tax and accounting principles, or book tax provisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years experience in mutual fund tax

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Graduate degree in taxation a plus.

  • Experience managing large vendor relationships or in public accounting, experience managing large client relationships

  • Previous supervisory or people management experience

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assists the Sr. Manager and Managing Director of Mutual Fund Tax in managing the mutual fund tax department, providing leadership, coaching, and guidance to ensure that goals and objectives are met.

  • Applies specialized knowledge of mutual fund taxation to review tax returns and other reports and presents findings and recommendations to the Sr. Management.

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and technical understanding of various tax and investment regulations, GAAP, FASB and control frameworks and statutory requirements.

  • Identifies and researches new tax regulations, standards, procedures and processes and makes recommendations to Sr. Management to implement and execute changes.

  • Participates in the review of federal, state and foreign tax returns including 1120-RICs and 8613s, maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy.

  • Reviews outsourced compliance work, including tax provisions, compliance testing, excise calculations and year-end reporting information.

Minimum Pay: $76,200.00
