POSITION SUMMARY:

The TIAA Internal Audit Department is a dynamic and forward-looking organization with high employee engagement levels and excellent Board and Executive management support. The IT audit team seeks a motivated individual to grow our data management audit capabilities as a Senior IT Auditor. This position will provide access to data, business and IT executives as well as influence data governance and management decisions. The role will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of current tools and processes and gaining a strategic understanding of future data plans and capabilities. Evaluation results will help shape future plans and the incumbent will help ensure plans are implemented with effective controls. This role will also help summarize results for consumption by senior executives and Board members responsible for strategic business decisions. In addition, this position will expose the incumbent to a wide variety of technology and business processes where data production, processing and reporting are key components and risks associated with their proper use are evaluated.

The position will be supported by knowledgeable, experienced and diverse professionals with extensive experience auditing a variety of technologies and business processes. Coaching and training are provided and pursuit of relevant certifications are supported.

To fill this critical role, TIAA seeks an experienced professional with at least 3 years of data governance, data management or data audit/risk management experience. Candidates should have recent experience with a combination of the following skills:

  • Development and deployment of data governance policies,processes and standards,

  • Design, implementation and operation of data managementtools and processes

  • Presenting data governance/management education sessionsto laypersons

  • Evaluation and application of regulatory expectations todata activities

  • Execution of risk assessments, control testing and reporting of the above

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Evaluate risks and controls over data assetsacross the enterprise

  • Collect information and evidencesupporting evaluations and observations

  • Document inputs and rationale for riskand control perspectives

  • Communicate results to audit,technology and business stakeholders

  • Gain consensus on action plansrequired to address concerns identified

  • Follow progress of action planstowards fulfillment of expected outcomes

  • Educate fellow colleagues on datagovernance and management matters

  • Contribute to plans for expandingaudit coverage and depth of data management

  • Work independently and with peers todeliver projects timely and with high quality

  • Comply with Company, Division andProfessional ethical standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • A minimum of 3 years of data management, datagovernance or audit/risk experience auditing data management

PREFERRED:

  • Working knowledge of data management technologies, tools,governance models and processes

  • Ability to gather, evaluate and provide clear insightson complex data environments and their relation to business challenges

  • Strong communication skills including asking thoughtfulquestions, challenging ambiguous responses and succinctly articulatingconcepts in layman’s terms

  • A concise, precise and accurate business writing style

  • Proactive development of rapport and relationships withdata, IT and business personnel from individual contributors to executives

  • Familiarity with and ability to follow development ofdata-related regulatory requirements

  • Ability to work effectively in a group andindependently

  • Based in Charlotte or Denver and ability to travel upto 15%

  • Proven time management and project management skills

  • Bachelor’s degree concentration in Data Management,Information Systems or Computer Science
