TIAA 2022 Summer Associate – Return Internship in Charlotte, North Carolina

Participates in and supports the operational activities of a business unit.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Contributing to defined projects or tasks under direct supervision.

  • Developing product or service knowledge and competence in tools and business processes used in the department.

  • Documenting processes or upgrading existing procedure manuals.

  • Performing research and providing answers for customer generated inquiries.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities for hands-on experiences, skills training, and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the TIAA, TIAA Bank and Nuveen’s businesses.

The program includes a robust training and onboarding program followed by our ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors, and previous interns.

Eligible interns may receive a full-time offer to join our Early Talent Rotational Program or various open positions within the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

You will have the opportunity to work in exciting business areas including but not limited to:

  • Technology

  • Asset Management

  • Financial Analysis/Accounting

  • Audit, Risk and Compliance

  • Human Resources

  • Advice and Client Relationships

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree

  • Graduation date between Winter 2022 and Spring 2024

  • Must have participated in TIAA’s 2021 Summer Associate Internship Program

DESIRED SKILLS (Preferred not required):

  • Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0 or better

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in related fields including Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Communications, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics or similar degree programs

  • Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving/analytical skills

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and deliver on commitments

  • Self-discipline and self-motivation

  • Strong level of integrity with an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Minimum of 2 years of working knowledge or academic experience in using Microsoft Office products or similar products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Potential Salary:

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
